Mr. Solano is a Business Leader within the Chicago metropolitan area as the owner of Jan’s Enterprises, Inc. (dba Jan’s Flooring) for the past 34 years and a 41 year member of Carpenters Local Union #1185. Being a Hispanic business professional, Mr. Solano and Jan’s Enterprises Inc. have been certified as a Minority Contractor with the City of Chicago, State of Illinois and DuPage County since 2005.

Mr. Solano is a graduate of the Chicago Public Schools (Schurz High School, 1975) who began his apprenticeship with Local #1185 in 1975 while an employee of prominent Chicago flooring contractor, Du-al Floor Company, and attained Journeyman status in 1978 through completion of the Washburne Trade School and U.S. Department of Labor apprentice training programs.

Due to his successful leadership and project management skills, in 1982 Mr. Solano was a founding shareholder in the start-up commercial flooring contractor, Jan’s Enterprises, Inc. In 1995, Mr. Solano executed the successful buyout of all shareholders to become the sole owner of Jan’s Enterprises Inc. Jan’s Flooring has operated its business in Bensenville since 1982 while serving the greater Chicago metropolitan region as one of the most respected commercial flooring contractors that is a member of Local Union #1185.

During Mr. Solano’s tenure as the owner of Jan’s Enterprises, Inc., the company has worked with a venerable list of businesses, corporations and government agencies on commercial construction projects and flooring installations. Today, Jan’s Flooring specializes in resilient flooring and wall installations and has completed some of the most prolific and challenging installations throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. A small sample of these projects includes installations for the University of Chicago Hospital, McCormick Place, City of Chicago Public Schools, Archdiocese of Chicago, United States Postal Service, Chicago Transit Authority, O’Hare Airport and Viacom MTV (Real World production facility residence). Additionally, over the years Jan’s Flooring has performed thousands of installations for prominent pharmaceutical, industrial and laboratory projects within the Chicago metropolitan area for some of the largest and most preeminent corporations.
